About Us
The Career Development and Training Company was set up in 2006 by Joyce McNeill and Vivien Rowbotham to provide businesses, lecturers and individual students with the skills needed to succeed in the travel and tourism, hospitality and office administration industries.
 Vivien has worked in the travel and tourism industry for over 28 years. Her early days were spent in several specialist independent travel consultancies, until she started her own retail agency focusing on long-haul travel, conferences & events and group travel. She sold the business to continue working for several blue-chip companies, including Thomas Cook as a branch manager, American Express as a Business Travel Consultant and The Holiday Hypermarket in a specialist sales role. She also built extensive airport and tour operations experience during this time. Using these skills, Vivien trained as a lecturer and also now holds 7307, Cert Ed, D-Units and V-Units qualifications, which she uses in her role as an assessor for City & Guilds and as an external verifier for EdExcel. Over the last 10 years she has taught students from the ages of 14 to 60 in many schools and colleges across the UK. Vivien enjoys swimming, theatre, cats and travel; her favourite destinations include the Florida Keys, Antigua and Italy. |
 Joyce has almost 30 years experience in the travel and tourism industry, in both the US and the UK. She started her career in the rental car business before moving into the retail travel industry in Florida. Specialising in air travel, package holidays and cruises, she worked for several dynamic travel companies focusing on the needs of local businesses and VIP clients. Following relocation to London, she continued to work with corporate clients at both Thomas Cook and American Express Business Travel, handling multinationals including Nortel, Oppenheimer, Monsanto and J. P. Getty. Joyce was soon requested to pass on her experience, training staff on SABRE, Worldspan, Galileo and Amadeus reservation systems. A senior travel consultant role with Carlson Wagonlit followed, before she decided to teach full-time. She is now an accredited lecturer for Virgin Fares and Ticketing Levels One and Two, holds a City & Guilds 7407 Certificate in Further Education and for the last 7 years has prepared UK and international students for successful careers in the travel and tourism industry. Joyce still maintains a passion for travel; much-loved destinations include Florida, the Far East and European city breaks.
